Robert Cohen is responsible for leading RKF's operations in its recently expanded Southern California office. As a 25-year veteran in retail real estate in Los Angeles, Manhattan and national markets, Mr. Cohen is recognized as a preeminent authority on luxury retailers and a specialist in owner and tenant representation.
In Southern California, Mr. Cohen oversees the firm's business throughout Los Angeles County -- including Santa Monica, the Westside, South Bay, Hollywood, Malibu, and the San Fernando Valley -- as well as Santa Barbara and Orange County. His recent transactions have included seven retail locations for Swedish retailer H&M in the Greater Los Angeles area, Arizona and Nevada and three stores for Polo Ralph Lauren in Malibu. On Robertson Boulevard, he secured new flagships for Polo Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, John Varvatos and Intermix, thereby invigorating the appeal of this retail destination.
With an expertise in developing strategic plans on behalf of retailers, Mr. Cohen has secured locations for H&M, Chrome Hearts, John Varvatos, CH Carolina Herrera, Club Monaco, Oliver Peoples, Ron Herman, Agent Provocateur, The Swatch Group and Custo Barcelona in major markets throughout the U.S. He has also been responsible for numerous high-profile New York retail transactions, including all three Manhattan Old Navy locations, Adidas’ flagship location in SoHo, the leasing of 25,000 square feet to Prada for its SoHo flagship site and securing Diesel’s new flagship on Fifth Avenue.
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Cohen has represented some of the most influential domestic and international fashion retailers, including Simon Pearce, Giorgio Armani, Dooney & Bourke, Sharper Image, agnes b., Banana Republic, Dolce & Gabbana, Montblanc, Luigi Borrelli, Pleats Please/Issey Miyake, Domenico Vacca, Stussy, Anna Sui, CP Shades and Gap. As a landlord representative, Mr. Cohen’s clients have included the Whitney Museum, the Kalimian Brothers, The Related Companies, A.R.I. Investors and The Sherry-Netherland, Inc. Mr. Cohen has been a top producer at RKF since the firm’s inception in 1998.
Prior to joining RKF, Mr. Cohen was a managing director at Garrick-Aug Associates. Prior to that, he worked at Edward S. Gordon and Helmsley-Spear.
Mr. Cohen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Miami. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Real Estate Board of New York and Urban Land Institute.
