Mr. Friedel joined RKF in 2004 to lead RKF Retail Property Advisors, which focuses on providing comprehensive leasing, marketing, and consulting services to owners and developers of malls, lifestyle centers and mixed-use projects. Mr. Friedel has more than 15 years of experience serving the retail leasing and advisory needs of property owners involved in large retail development projects throughout the United States
Mr. Friedel and his team are currently leasing several major projects nationwide, including:
- the 400,000-square-foot retail and entertainment portion of The Mercato mixed-use, lifestyle retail center in Naples, FL;
- 500,000 square feet of signature shops and first-class restaurants within the mixed-use Bloomfield Park development in Bloomfield Hills, MI;
- the 250,000-square-foot lifestyle retail portion of the larger, mixed-use Towne Place at Garden State Park in Cherry Hill, NJ;
- the 1.5 million-square-foot retail component at Westwood Station, a new mixed-use development in Westwood, MA;
- SouthSide Works, a mixed-use development in Pittsburgh, PA, featuring 350,000 square feet of lifestyle retail space;
- New City (Chicago), the 400,000-square-foot mixed-use development in the exclusive Lincoln Park neighborhood.
The clients Mr. Friedel represents on these projects are such notable names as the Falcone Group, New England Development, the Soffer Organization, Developers Diversified Realty, The Lutgert Companies, Barron Collier Company, Cabot Cabot & Forbes, Edgewood Properties, The Mills Corporation and Structured Development.
Prior to joining RKF, Mr. Friedel was executive vice president of Related Retail Advisors, the retail development arm of The Related Companies. While with Related, Mr. Friedel was involved in large-scale retail and mixed-use development projects. He was responsible for the programming and leasing of Time Warner Center in New York City and CityPlace in West Palm Beach, FL, achieving 95 percent occupancy months prior to both their respective openings in February 2004 and October 2000.
In 2004, Mr. Friedel was featured in Crain’s magazine’s “Rising Stars: 40 Under 40” feature, which highlights up-and-coming business professionals who have made a significant impact on business in New York.
Prior to Related, Mr. Friedel was with Corporate Property Investors (now Simon Property Group) where he was responsible for determining the strategic direction and leasing of super-regional shopping centers throughout the company’s portfolio.
Mr. Friedel earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from Lehigh University. He also received a Diploma in Real Estate Investment Analysis from New York University. Mr. Friedel is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
