NEW YORK, NY — Exactly one year after vacating a retail spot at 111 Fifth Avenue, a Class A office/retail property in the heart of Manhattan’s Flatiron District, discount designer fashion retailer Daffy’s has returned to the location. Although Daffy’s previous store has become a soon-to-open H&M unit, the company has leased 18,000 square feet behind and below the H&M store.
Daffy’s main entrance will be on East 18th Street.
“When Daffy’s departed 111 Fifth Avenue, it was obvious their loyal customers missed the store,” said Ben Winter, a principal with The Winter Organization, owner/manager of the building. “We would find messages such as ‘Bring back Daffy’s’ on construction barriers outside the building.
Naturally, we are delighted that Daffy’s has decided to return to 111 Fifth. We are especially pleased that along with H&M, we will now have two leading fashion retailers opening at the property in time for the holiday shopping season.”
“Daffy’s has a loyal following in the The Flatiron District which has emerged as a hot fashion corridor for a wide array of leading brands,” said Ariel Schuster, managing director of Robert K. Futterman & Associates, who along with RKF Chairman & CEO Robert K. Futterman and RKF Associates Izzy Anthony and Stephanie Snyder represented both parties in the lease negotiations. “111 Fifth Avenue benefits from a highly-trafficked neighborhood where Manhattanites and tourists converge to enjoy some of the best fashion retail in the entire city. It is clearly a ‘can’t lose’ location for Daffy’s.”
The country’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing and investment sales, Robert K. Futterman & Associates (RKF) serves a broad spectrum of domestic and global clients in services ranging from national tenant and owner representation to advisory, consulting and disposition. RKF is headquartered in New York with offices in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The Winter Organization’s 111-115 Fifth Avenue is a 233,000-square-foot, 13-story building in the heart of the Flatiron District. The Winter Organization has invested heavily in the property to provide premium services to tenants such as 24/7 access with an attended lobby, computer-controlled elevators and a high-speed telecommunications infrastructure.
