Gary Alterman and Stephen Asch Join Leading Brokerage Firm RKF

NEW YORK, NY — Robert K. Futterman & Associates, LLC (RKF), the nation’s leading independent real estate firm specializing in retail leasing, investment sales, and consulting services has announced that Gary Alterman and Stephen Asch have joined RKF as senior vice presidents. The former Newmark Knight Frank Retail executive vice presidents will be part of the Manhattan leasing team.
Alterman and Asch are two of Manhattan’s most significant retail brokers. With nearly 60 years of combined industry experience, they have worked with some of the nation’s most respected and recognized retailers and property owners. In 1987 they co-founded New Spectrum Realty, which Newmark Knight Frank acquired in 2000. Prior to founding New Spectrum, they were retail leasing agents with Garrick Aug Associates.

Mr. Alterman has 29 years of retail leasing experience and has completed numerous transactions on behalf of owners and retailers throughout New York City and its suburbs. Among the many retailers he has represented are Ann Taylor Loft, The Men’s Warehouse, Dean & Deluca, West Elm, Gap and Pottery Barn. For Ann Taylor Loft, he engineered the retailer’s roll out strategy and secured eight retail locations for the brand. The Men’s Warehouse relied on Mr. Alterman to negotiate leases for its four Manhattan stores, including its flagship retail location on Madison Avenue. On behalf of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Mr. Alterman successfully leased 15,000 square feet at 2 Broadway to five national tenants. He also represented many other property owners including Ogden CAP Properties, Brookfield Properties, The Brodsky Organization and Jack Resnick & Sons. He is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s Store Broker’s Committee and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Mr. Asch has 29 years of professional real estate experience and has represented many notable retailers and landlords. The Men’s Warehouse, American Eagle Outfitters, Victoria’s Secret, The Limited, Express, Pier 1 and The Walt Disney Company are some of the retail tenants he has represented. He also arranged more than 40 transactions for Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy over the years. Mr. Asch spearheaded the leasing assignment at Harlem USA, the first major retail center of its kind in Harlem. Other renowned property owners Mr. Asch has represented include The Milstein Organization, Rudin Management Company, Brookfield Properties and The Bromley Company. He is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York and the International Council Shopping Centers.
